A letter from the county council of their elderly English neighbors demanding that they sell their house so that asylum seekers may live there upset them.
In a strongly worded letter, the North Northamptonshire Council informed Jose and Ted Saunders that their £200,000 property may be purchased by the government on a compulsory basis in order to lodge young foreign males. The letter was written in January.
"I was in shock," remarked 76-year-old retired caregiver Jose. "We relocated to Rushden in order to assist with my granddaughter's daycare needs and discovered this charming little community."
"What in the world is the council doing making people sell their homes so that asylum seekers can live in them? Even an empty house belongs to someone." She enquired.
"The solution to this is not to forcibly remove people from their homes, but to stop them from coming in the first place."
She said, "It feels very immoral to force us to sell it in order to create way for migrants and asylum seekers.
From the Daily Mail:
The letter, headed ‘Empty Properties and sites initiative’ had their exact address in bold and stated: ‘We are writing as we have reason to believe that the above-named premises… is empty or unused.
‘The Government has identified empty privately-owned properties as a potential cause o blight within communities, and as a wasted resource at time of high housing need.’
The letter continued that the council was seeing a ‘considerable increase’ in positive immigration decisions being made in favour of asylum seekers, mainly single men, and the authority was ‘struggling’ to source suitable accommodation for them.
It added: ‘The ideal long-term solution would be to provide accommodation by using empty properties which would benefit owners and the project.’
It said the council could make a compulsory purchase order on the property.
After criticism, the council quickly expressed regret for the "error" but laid the responsibility on Home Office efforts to expedite asylum requests by finding housing for refugees.
In an effort to get long-term vacant houses back into use, the North Northamptonshire Council (NNC) is collaborating with the owners of those properties. Jason Smithers, the leader of North Northamptonshire Council, told the Daily Mail that Compulsory Purchase Orders (CPO) are a tool used as a very last resort to bring empty properties, which are a valuable and much-needed housing resource, back into use. They are not used to "oust" current owners from their properties.
"The 'empty property initiative letters' were distributed in an attempt to help owners of vacant properties repurpose their assets, and generally, the NNC cooperation was greatly appreciated. CPO has not acquired any properties since NNC was founded in 2021. This is a last-resort method for reusing troublesome, long-term vacant homes.
Sadly, NNC's records in this instance were out of current, and the letter was accidentally sent to an occupied residence. I apologize sincerely for creating any unnecessary anxiety or grief for this," he continued.
In October, UK Home Secretary Suella Braverman claimed that the potential of BILLIONS of migrants entering the nation was "realistic."
"The 20th-century wind of change that transported my parents around the world was merely a breeze in comparison to the impending hurricane," she said.
"Because it is now a very real possibility for billions of people to move from a poorer to a richer country," the statement reads.
In America, despite the huge illegal invasion of the southern border, virtue-signaling liberals are already starting to willingly accept migrants at the urging of state authorities.
