Bill Gates is coming up with a new scheme that aims to ban memes from the Internet permanently.

The GAVI Vaccine Alliance, which receives funding from Gates, has declared its intention to reposition memes as "super-spreaders of health disinformation."

Reclaimthenet reports: This genre is reportedly able to avoid "fact checkers and content moderators" (i.e., censors), something that in the digital age may as well be regarded as any other artistic format in the past.

Books containing phrases and images typical of memes would have been burnt or prohibited in earlier times and totalitarian nations.

What then may be the modern day answer? And what's the whole image worth?

Cynics would argue that Bill Gates is simply pursuing a free and open internet through alternative methods.

However, as per a blog post on GAVI's website, "Our research indicates that memes are a part of an extremely complex scheme to disseminate and profit from health misinformation."

Memes may not appear dangerous, but that is precisely why they are such powerful propagators of false information about health, according to GAVI.
